STI began with a goal to train as many Filipinos as possible to develop their computer skills.

In the early ‘80s, Augusto C. Lagman, Herman T. Gamboa, Benjamin A. Santos, and Edgar H. Sarte came together to set up Systems Technology Institute (STI) The institute provides professionals and students who wish to learn programming with introductory instruction. The first two campuses were inaugurated on August 21, 1983 in Buendia, Makati and in Espaňa, Manila, and both campuses offered basic computer programming courses. The result of the brainstorming and studies is the “Owl”, a well-known symbol of wisdom. This marks the birth of the logotype and “Owlie” (the official mascot) as the first brand representation of STI.

In 2001, the Management decided it was high time to give the brand a new look to launch a refreshed identity for the STI brand. The new look was coupled with a better and improved STI education system as well. STI slowly integrated itself into the education industry as a school that provides boundless career opportunities in non-IT programs such as Business and Management, Healthcare, Hospitality Management, and Tourism Management.

"STI has been a significant part of my life, shaping my interests and values. While Experiencing challenges like exams and also disappointment, pressures those experiences helped me grow stronger and to be positive. I appreciate the friendships I've built in STI, as they have provided support and laughter during tough times. The diverse subjects I studied sparked my curiosity and passion for learning, pushing me to explore new ideas and giving me a confidence to study. Overall, my experience at STI has been a mix of ups and downs, but it has ultimately prepared me for the future".

"STI College was never a choice for me since my parents prefer universities than college systems, but now that I'm an STIer, I see why students choose to study in our school. This college has brought my expectations to the highest, as it offers the students the best learning quality. The campus itself is also nice since it connects mostly with nature, giving the learners a chill and relaxing learning environment. The teachers and personnel around the campus also build a great and strong community where students would feel safe and valued”.

"In my experience in STI, when heavy rain falls, the parking lot is prone to flooding. The water on the side of the parking lot is rising, which may cause a flood. In my suggestion, improve their parking lot because our vehicles may damage or, in the worst-case scenario, they will break".

"STI was my first choice because all my junior high school friends are studying, I started going to STI Orca ever since I’m a grade 12 student. But now I’m a college student I'm still here in STI Orca because even though it’s hard it is more convenient because I just lived in along Ortigas extension and it is cheaper to study here and all the teachers is nice and understandable, so I recommend people to study here in STI Ortigas Cainta".

"As a freshmen IT student in STI, I’ve been doing good so far, but of course there’s been tons of culture shock that I have experienced.

During my first week in STI, I haven’t talk to anyone yet, so I just observe, during those times realized how the instructors obey what the school tell them to, and it is a good thing because they’re a good example for their students, and I like how they balance strictness and playfulness around their students.

Now what surprise me the most was the grading system, I don’t really hate it, it actually is reasonable that the school do that to be fair for those students who’s active and not in school, but I think it’s quite hard to accept the fact that they rely on exams, especially for those who take course that is skilled base. So why not instead of relying on exams why not relay on attendance? Since the whole point of their Zero-based grading system is to make the students be more attentive to their class".

"When I graduated junior high school, STI was one of my options to continue my studies for senior high school since my previous school doesn’t have one yet. My journey as a senior high school student was a mix of ups and downs. Was it hard? Yes! Because they give lots of activities and performance tasks. Was it fun? Yes! Because you have your friends and teachers to help and guide you along the way, that made my SHS life bearable. One unforgettable moment in SHS is when we had our EXPO and we had to present our research and product that we have worked on for over a year. All in all, it was a fun journey, and I have learned a lot from my SHS teachers.

Now that I have graduated SHS in STI, I still remained in STI to continue my studies for college. The program that I chose is Bachelor of Science in Information Technology. I still chose STI for my college because I believe that they will make me future ready. However, I’m concerned about their grading system, which is the zero-based grading system. I am not against it; it's just that I am not used to it yet. Therefore, I just took it as a challenge for me to strive to do well in my studies".

Entering college life is the same as starting a new chapter of our lives; things are new, unfamiliar, and strange, but that's also the time to adjust and adapt. Most students of STI College have the same good memories as an STIer, and that is how STI builds their confidence, enhances their skills, and, of course, the learning. However, there are also things that they consider the worst experiences, most students are struggling to adjust to the grading system because STI implement a new grading system which is the Zero based grading system and it contains 50 percent exam and 20 percent class participation 30 percent performance task and that gives them a hard time to adjust mostly on 1st year college because they are a new college students and not everyone is a fast learner most of us is a slow learner this will give us a hard time.

Some students may say that STI is a good school, some may say that they don’t recommend going here. STI may have pros and cons, but at the end of the day there is no perfect school, including STI. They may have a lot of issues like their grading system, and some students have many opinions about it. We should learn to accept and embrace changes. But we recommend improving our school by increasing student involvement by introducing more clubs and activities that cater to various interests. Additionally, implementing regular feedback session can help to ensure the students of STI to feel their voices are heard and valued. Finally, fostering a supportive environment through mentorship programs can enhance both academic and social experiences for everyone.

Therefore, it is up to you whether you want to go to STI or not.
